The Traditionsschiff

The Traditionsschiff was built in the Warnow shipyard Rostock-Warnemünde in the years 1956 and 1957.

During the years 1958 to 1969, it served with the name MS Dresden as a bulk carrier with a load capacity of 10.000 tons for the Deutsche Seereederei of the DDR.

Since 1970, it has been used as a museum and culture ship. In its hull it houses diverse and interesting exhibitions, among others, about wooden ship building during the Hanse times, an original engine room, bridge, radio room and galley.

For children, there is a mini port facility, a water basin with remote controllable ship models, a real attraction. A cafeteria offers little snacks and beverages. Since 2003, the Traditionsschiff has been part of the IGA Park.
