The rampart is the city centre's green lung.

The green area is situated between Hermannstraße and Schröderstraße and is ideal for relaxing beneath high trees, to play with your children at one of the two playgrounds or just feeding the ducks.

During a winter with snow the rampart becomes on the Kröpeliner Gate side a popular sledging slope.

There is an old saga around the Teufelskuhle (devil's hollow). It tells of the devil, who apparently sank the castle of a rich man because the man preferred hunting to going to church on Sundays.
