The Ostseestadion (DKB Arena) in Rostock

The Ostsee Stadium (DKB Arena) is situated in the Hanseatic city of Rostock. It is the home ground of the F.C. Hansa Rostock. The stadium is also the venue for events like open-air concerts.

The stadium has room for maximal 30.000 visitors. Of those are, 20.000 seats and standing room for 10.000, which can be turned into 5.000 seats at international matches. There are also 26 'VIP-Boxes' and 1.000 'Business-Seats'. All seats are roofed.

The old Ostsee Stadium was constructed with great assistance by the Rostock citizens in the course of the National Aufbauwerk in over 100.000 working hours and inaugurated on the 27th of June 1954. It was designed as a general sports stadium, for that reason it has an athletic running track. Later, the stand (3000 seats) got a roof and at the end of the 1960ties a 700-Lux floodlight system was added.

The last reconstruction measures of the old stadium were renewal of the front stand (1991) and the installation of a video screen after the demolition of the old stadium tower (1992). The old stadium had in the end, a capacity of 25.500 seats.
It took only 16 months to build the new Ostsee Stadium in place of the old one. It was finished in the year 2001. It was designed as a modern soccer arena with lawn heating.
